Southern Sydney Trusted Care (formerly Southern Sydney Therapy Centre) is a non-profit organisation which provides quality respite and recreational programs for people with a disability who live in the Sutherland and St George areas. The organisation currently provides innovative services to over 250 families who are caring for a person with a disability. Whilst these programs are designed to give carers and families time ‘to recharge their batteries’, participants are also given the opportunity to enjoy inclusion in social, cultural and recreational community activities.
Missionstatement “To provide services that support people with a disability and their families”
Goals-“To provide services that are responsive to meeting the needs of people with disabilities within the least restrictive environment”
“To promote participation and the inclusion of people with disabilities within the community”
We are delighted to announce our merger with The Disability Trust on 1st January 2012. The Disability Trust has its roots firmly in the community, having been established in 1974 to help children with disabilities and their families in the Illawarra. In recent years we have grown substantially, and now have more than 600 permanent and casual staff providing care to around 3000 clients. Based in regional NSW with our head office in Wollongong, The Disability Trust provides a wide range of services to residents from the Central Coast in the north to the Victorian border.
We are both privileged and honoured to be the inaugural Ambassadors of the new Southern Sydney Trusted Care organisation. As users of the service for our daughter Emma we have firsthand experience of the skilled staff and programs that the Centre offers. These services have assisted and made a remarkable difference to our family as I am sure to many other families in the Sutherland and
St George area."
